Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. Responsibilities include knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, proper patient positioning, scanning, digital image management for interpretations, implementation of patient charges, and assists physician as required. Will be available for emergency on-call procedures as required. Recognizes the need for control/assessment of pain for patients and helps to prevent or reduce patient pain levels when possible.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education: Course in ultrasound technology with college prerequisites or sufficient on-the-job experience sufficient for registry eligibility. Certification in diagnostic ultrasound through means of a registry is preferred within 2 years of employment.
