Assigns diagnostic and procedure codes to patient records. Enters abstract data in computer and generates reports as required.
Education: Current Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) license from accredited institution or credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) upon employment or within six months of employment.
Experience: Previous experience in coding, billing and payment processes.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Capable of working overtime as required; able to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to work with physicians, physician office personnel and hospital departments in a highly professional setting.
